In short: Match Day keeps your team's squad, games and results so every coach on the
team can see them. Use first names only for players. We don't show adverts, sell data or track you around
the web. Followers of the live score see team names and scores, never players.
Who we are
Match Day is run by Mark Miles Consultancy Limited, a company registered in England and Wales
(company number 08286044; registered office 19 Well Close, Winscombe, England, BS25 1HQ). Contact:
hello@matchday-app.uk.
Who decides what goes in
Coaches and their clubs decide which players and details to add to their team. For that team
information, the club (or coach) is in charge of it under data protection law and we look after it for
them. For coaches' own sign-in details, we're in charge.
What we keep
| What | Why |
| Team information: team name, players' first names, line-ups, substitutions, playing time,
scores and scorers, fixtures, awards and coaches' notes about players | So the coaches on the team can run
match days and keep a season record |
| Coaches: the name you choose to show, how you sign in (no account, Google or email), when you
last used the app, and your email address if you sign in with Google or email | So other coaches know who
is in the team, and so your teams follow you to a new phone |
| Join requests: the name you give and how you sign in | So the team's coaches can accept or
decline you |
| Follower link: team names, opponent names, kick-off times, pitches, scores, the match clock and
status | So family, carers and friends can follow the score. It never contains players' names |
Coaches' email addresses are never shown to other coaches, followers or anyone else.
Children's information
Please add first names only: no surnames, dates of birth, photos, medical details or contact details.
Keep notes about players to football (or rugby): things like "work on staying wide". Only the coaches who
have been accepted into the team can see its players. Parents and carers who want to see, correct or remove their
child's details should ask the team's coach, or contact us.
Where it's stored
Team information is stored by Google Firebase (Google Cloud) in London. Sign-ins are handled by Firebase
Authentication. The app also keeps a copy on each coach's phone so it works without signal. Backups that
coaches save are files on their own device, and they're responsible for them.
Who else sees it
- Google (Firebase) stores the data and handles sign-ins for us.
- The app's fonts come from Google Fonts, so your phone asks Google's servers for them.
We don't sell data, show adverts or use tracking or analytics cookies. The app stores a few settings on
your phone (such as which team is open) so it works; these aren't used to track you.
How long we keep it
Team information stays while the team uses Match Day. A coach can leave a team at any time, which removes
them from it and clears the team from their phone. To have a team or your account deleted completely, email us
and we'll do it within 30 days. Teams that haven't been used for two years may be deleted after we've tried to
contact the coaches.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or object to how we use it. Email
hello@matchday-app.uk. If you're unhappy with our
answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Keeping it safe
Each team's information can only be read by the coaches accepted into that team; our security rules
enforce this on Google's servers, and are tested before every release. All connections are encrypted.
Changes
If we change this page in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app.
